Personal Work

In the middle of busy season, I like to work on personal stuff.

I know that seems very counter productive, but it's actually quite beneficial. Not just for me, but for my clients too. When I start to feel a bit overwhelmed with work and getting almost to the point of being burned out, I try to fit in a personal shoot. I work a bit with models and do some free sessions where I have complete creative control. This allows me to get adventurous and try new things. So when I'm feeling down, I go shoot. It gives me motivation to keep going and I regain clarity as to why I even started photography in the first place. I get home and look through what I've done, what I need to do and prioritize. I get excited again, motivated to want to keep going. This helps me get through my busy schedule and the drive to keep going.

The monotony of every day life can become somewhat dull and boring doing the same. thing. every. single. day. I am spontaneous and ambitious so I strive to do things way differently than most people. Or maybe I'm not alone in my thoughts here and there are other creatives out there who are just like me. I just haven't found them yet. Either way, I like to do things. So while I enjoy what I do, I do not enjoy sitting at my computer desk for days on end. This is why I force myself to do personal work. My backside also thanks me for it. ;)

I love my job. I love my clients. I love working with models. I have been very fortunate to work with some of the best people on this planet. I'm grateful for every opportunity I get. This is why I keep going. This is why I do personal shoots. It keeps me on my toes and keeps me going.

Here are some of my favorite shots from the personal work I've photographed. Enjoy!
